UNCSA Filmmaking Class of 2022

Thanks! It’s not letting me log on, though. It’s saying the security question hasn’t been authorized. Is the financial aid for UNCSA released all at the same time?

To be honest, I don’t know. This is my first experience with UNCSA. I just like to poke around once they give you access, as when my older one got into WVU I knew about his financial aid before they even sent the information simply by logging into his student account. I recommend being a little nosy in this way, as it can produce information they haven’t formally told you. My younger one got a $3k per year campus arts scholarship from UNCSA according to the portal. I hope you can finally get in there. It’s good information to have access to once you’re admitted.

Ok it just updated again. Much more $$ offered. So thrilled right now. Holy moly!! Yay!

@misstrendy Which scholarship did your son get?

Campus Arts Scholarship for $3k/year. Campus Based Grant for $5900/year and work study for $800/year. That’s $9600 covered which is really fantastic. Huge help.

@misstrendy Do you happen to know if the “campus based grants” are merit based or need based? Or a combo of both? I can’t access any financial info for my son yet - we have the same problem as @awkwardambition. That is great that you got such a nice package - congrats!!!

@HappyMom4 THANK YOU!! My son is over the moon. I do not know how they calculate those scholarships to be honest. All I can say is I’m happy my son qualified however it happened. I’m sorry you can not access the portal yet. I hope they rectify that soon as knowing your financials makes all the difference in where you choose ultimately. I know we set up access to his application after it was completed and then once he was accepted they emailed him to set up the ezarts portal and we went from there. I’ve had access to the financial aid since then and have checked it daily. We put down the refundable deposit knowing he was likely going to attend and are visiting next week just to be sure. Maybe the deposit was what ultimately pushed out the financials for us. Maybe it was just their timing. Again as this is my first experience with UNCSA I can only speculate.

Will UNCSA offer any scholarships later? @misstrendy how long was it before your portal updated with more scholarships? I was just offered a loan.

@awkwardambition How did you eventually get into your portal?

I logged into the EZ Arts portal with my 9600 number and I had to call the UNCSA registrar to get my PIN #, because it wasn’t working earlier. Then I went into the financial aid tab. Misstrendy posted the link earlier in the thread.

Total timeline: He was accepted in early Feb. Soon after, I called financial aid and they said end of March beginning of April to know anything. After his acceptance letter came, he got an email with his ezarts info. He logged in and was able to see a few tabs, financial aid being one of them but there was zero info for the longest time there. Fast forward to yesterday. I only saw one offer at first, just the campus arts scholarship. Today everything else filled in, including the ability to deny or accept work study and loans as well. Scholarships and grants were automatically accepted. Hope this helps folks.

@misstrendy do you think they offer scholarships first and then loans? I’d really need a scholarship from this school. I heard from another guy that UNCSA is releasing financial aid info tomorrow- worried because the school’s really expensive… Sorry for all the questions!

@awkwardambition no need to apologize at all. I can completely understand and respect your concern. This is why I was obsessively checking my son’s portal every day. I wanted to know financials because the school is pretty expensive especially for those out of state. If you heard it’s coming out tomorrow keep checking the portal. My son’s updated within 24 hours of the first sighting of any aid to what it says now. I sincerely hope you get big bucks and you are able to attend. Also if you don’t get the financial aid you are looking for make an appointment with them if you can go there and see if you can get more aid. I’ve heard this works. Never tried it myself but if it’s your #1 choice school you have nothing to lose by talking to them.

@misstrendy Thanks so much! I’ll be sure to keep checking  Congrats to your son, btw!

Thank you @awkwardambition. I appreciate you starting this thread too. It’s been helpful to read the responses from everyone and hopefully I’ve helped answer anyone who I could too. Congrats on your admission and keep your chin up. You will land wherever you belong…

Also worth mentioning, my son set up his UNCSA email and the housing application was already sent to him. I know that’s putting the cart before the horse here for some of you following (and us too as we’re still deciding) but I would recommend if you’re accepted to set up that email address if you can.

Does anyone know if UNCSA allows you to stack outside scholarships? Or will they take their scholarships away if you have scholarships from outside sources?

@ready2launch I’m pretty sure they let you put in outside scholarships. There’s an option on that portal to add scholarships from outside sources.

@ready2launch I’m meeting with Financial Aid literally this afternoon. I plan to discuss that but I think @awkwardambition is correct. I’ve seen what you’re talking about on the portal too. I’ll make a point to let you know what they say. This school is beautiful. We’re going on the tour at 1pm but what we’ve seen of it is super impressive.

@awkwardambition I saw that option on the portal and that’s what made me think they might not stack scholarships. D1 had to report outside scholarships and her school (large state university) reduced her aid because of those. First they took away loan packages, then workstudy, then reduced merit/need based scholarships. @misstrendy I am anxious to hear about your visit. Are you local?
