UNCW or ECU Please Help Please!!!

I have been accepted to both UNCW and ECU, but I want to major in engineering. Should I choose to go to UNCW or ECU engineering. UNCW does not have a engineering program, so I would have to transfer out at the end of two years. However, if I choose to go with ECU, since it has a dedicated engineering program, I do not have to transfer out. Also, I have asked my people opinions as well. The majority said that UNCW would be the better option. ECU seems to be like a party school, and almost anybody that apply can get it. If I do UNCW engineering, that means I would have to do the 2+2 program. Which means after years I would transfer to NC State.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Which college should I pick. Has anybody been to ECU Engineering or UNCW. Can you tell me anything about the experience there. Also, I am also deciding upon which engineering to take. Can anybody give me any idea. I was thinking Mechanical engineering, or computer/electrical engineering and throw in a computer science somewhere.

So please give me suggestions on the above issues. UNCW 2+2 engineering program or ECU 4 year engineering program.
Please help. And thank you very much. Any suggestions. Thanks again.

Would the transfer to NC State be guaranteed or would you need to apply and get in? If it’s guaranteed, then I say go UNCW. Yes the transfer could be annoying, but an engineering degree from NC State will serve you well. And if you decide that you don’t want to do engineering, programs at UNCW are overall better than ECU. I guess the question is if you are comfortable having to transfer.

Go to UNCW if it’s guaranteed (or with easy conditions, like 2.5 in calculus or something of the kind that anyone serious about engineering would need to meet anyway).
Better location, better opportunities, general academics are good, and as far as I know the 2+2 is well-established and works well.

As an OOS student who will (probably) go to UNCW next year, go with UNCW. No contest.

For a prospective engineer, it is probably best to start at an engineering campus. I’ve visited UNCW (the marine bio department) and like it, but if it does not have your desired major, what is the advantage of enrolling there? Why endure the bureaucratic nuisance of transferring? By the way, pay NO attention to the posters here who are knocking ECU. That school has been on the rise for awhile now.

Did you apply to NCSU ?

OP, have you made a decision? It’s a choice many students face and your thought process would be quite useful to future seniors.

Hi @MYOS1634 how do you know that the transfer is under easy conditions. And is transferring really such a hassle.

I have a friend that is doing UNCW 2+2, he has enjoyed it, he will be at NCSU this year. He originally wanted NSCU but did not get in, so it has worked well for him.
