Is it possible to get accepted as undecided or some other General Arts and then switch to the College of Engineering in your second year?

If so, how easy is it?

Yes, it is possible. The process is called “CODO”, and it’s where you switch from one school to another. For instance, I CODO’d from management to engineering. It is fairly easy, however, you need to keep your GPA up and depending on if you CODO into “First Year Engineering” or a specific major like ChemE - you will have varying levels of pre-reqs and GPA requirements. Generally, you need 2.5-3.0 GPA to get into one of the engineering majors and this will include calc 1 and 2, chem, physics 1 and 2, CS, etc… So you might as well just start in engineering unless you want to prolong your time in school. If it’s a question of whether you can get admitted into the engineering school right out of high school, just apply as a LA major but take all first year engineering courses… There are no rules against this, so as long as you can do well in the classes you can CODO into engineering once you meet the prereqs.
