Undecided Transfer Student

Currently, a sophomore attending SBU in NY. I’ll be applying as a junior. I want to get into Business college. I know that I need to spend at least a year in Emory College to be eligible to transfer business school. Even though, I get accepted to Emory College, what are my chances to transfer business school after spending a year? I am kinda undecided if I should submit the application.

Ethnicity: Caucasian (international student from Turkey).
Major: Business Administration concentrating in Finance
Credits: I have around 60 credits so far with upcoming Spring semester
College GPA: 3.78
HS GPA: 3.9ish (unweighted)
SAT: Never took it. All of them does not require it.
TOEFL/IELTS: I am waived because I graduated high school in the USA.
LoR: I can get one from a business prof or dean of international admissions. LoR’s are strong.
Essays: I think essays are my weakest points.
Financial Aid: Don’t need it.

College ECs:

  • Member of Turkish-American Association
  • Member of Investment Club
  • Member of Honor Society Club
  • Have done some interns in Turkey
  • Working part-time on campus

High School EC/Awards (not all, just ones I’m including)

  • Couple community works
  • Done abroad community work
  • Some clubs in HS

Any advice or suggestion will be appreciated.

@yankeebanger : Dubious at best, see a discussion we had about this with someone else entertaining Virginia for economics as well as Emory GBS as a junior: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/emory-university/2022840-how-does-transferring-to-emory-work-for-those-pursuing-bba-in-finance.html#latest

I had a friend stay the extra year and it really worked out for him, but if you are not willing to entertain this thought, I air slightly on the “no” side. May be better to see if there are any places where you can transfer directly into a business school. Also, if you do well and fulfill the pre-reqs successfully (so do well in financial accounting and DSci with B+ or higher for sure), and try to get involved in that first year, then you should have no problem getting in. But again, the question is, are you willing to entertain a 5th year?
