Everyone says to go into the undecided major but I am getting really scared, all the applicants I have talked to applied for undecided because people told them to also. I am starting to think the undecided major may actually be harder to get into this year since so many applicants applied into that. What does everyone else think? What is the actual easiest major to get into?

Should I change my major to one of my aspiring majors: marketing(smeal which is too hard I think) journalism or economics?

I doubt that any more people are applying undecided this year vs. Other years. If you check the old threads it’s pretty standard advice every year that DUS plus summer gives a better chance than say, engineering with borderline atats.

I wouldn’t just change your major unless you know what you want tone study. If you don’t know, stick with DUS. It does not hurt your admission chances to be DUS.

@jlhpsu idk it’s just worrying me, I hear so so many people applying as undecided, like even the most random people. A girl told me she applied under animal sciences to get into penn state because she thinks too many apply as undecided and as applicants amounts rise, the stricter admissions gets with that major. It’s also making me mad that people apply to penn state and has no interest of going there at all, why do people do that? It only hurts us- the people who really want to go there.

Well I think most students have schools they apply to as backups. Penn State accepts many more than they expect to attend. They work that yield into their numbers, so you aren’t really being hurt by it. It’s very frustrating to wait…believe me I know!
I am also not sure animal science will be easier to get into than DUS…

I don’t know, that’s just what I’ve been hearing and it’s been making me question my application and I’m getting even more nervous. So many of my friends heard back from their top choices today and got accepted. It’s hard no doubt to watch everyone else being accepted and commiting to their top school while we are still waiting.

Yes I know it’s hard! Most of my friends heard back from PSU last month, and I just was accepted last week!, stay positive. I know how hard it is to be patient
