Is it better to go undecided instead of declaring a major? I heard that popular majors like business and med are hard to get into since so many applicants apply.

I would advise you not to try to get any strategic advantage out of what major you put down. Just put down what you're interested in. If you're undecided, put undecided. What probably would help is if you have already demonstrated some interest (through ECs, courses, or stellar test scores) in the major. Btw, there are no undergrad business or med majors.

yahooo - many many colleges (pretty much all of HYPSM)do not take into account what you will major in. They only use it for statistical reasons (like making graphs and stuff), but do not use it for admissions. Also, there is no business or medical major at Harvard. Just go along with what you like the most and what you would most likely go into @ harvard.

Hmm. There is no equivalent of pre-med?

biology is probably the most common pre-med major.

What do you mean when you say they dont use it for admissions? So do they take into account what my major is?

yahooo, if your ECs and classes show interest in a prospective major, it will be a good thing
