undeclared engineering

i got into berkeley for undeclared engineering. i was wondering if bioengineering is an impacted major and whether it would be difficult for me to switch into another engineering major from undeclared engineering. is there anything i need to do? like take a test or go through a selection?

As an undeclared engineering student, can choose whatever engineering major you wish (provided you maintain a passable GPA). So no, you’re good.

When can we declare our major? If I have a pretty good idea that I want to go into EECS, do I have to wait until the end of a specific semester? You say that you need to maintain a GPA (that isn’t my concern), making it seem like you have to wait until after Freshman year.

Should I just line up my classes like that of someone in the EECS major?

I believe you can declare whenever you’d like. I’m not speaking from first-hand experience though, so you probably want to check with someone who knows better than me.

They encourage you to declare by the end of freshman year because that’s when the curricula for the engineering disciplines start to branch off. Until then, you’re pretty much free to take whatever classes you choose. You can choose any engineering major that you want, so there’s really no hurry to declare immediately.

oh… so i dont have to worry about not getting into an engineering major then?
thankkkkks :]
