So I'm undeclared and may possibly go on the pre-med track. Since I haven't declared a major yet, what classes should I take the first year? :O

What major(s) are you considering (pre-med may be done with any major)? You need to consider the needed prerequisite courses for all of the major(s) you are considering.

What AP/IB/A-level/college credit do you have going in? While medical schools often do not accept AP/IB/A-level credit, if you will be taking more advanced courses in those areas anyway for your major, you may be able to substitute those for courses skipped by AP/IB/A-level credit.

Typical Berkeley courses used for typical pre-med requirements are listed here:

You should take Chem 1A and Math 1A if you want to stay on track for Premed.

Despite whatever major you choose, you will still need the same core med school pre-reqs required just as any other premed needs.

Some majors may have different requirements. For example, a prospective chemistry major would choose Chemistry 4A instead of 1A/1AL. Some majors do not require Math 1A, so a pre-med could take Math 16A (however, MCB and IB do require either 1A-1B or 10A-10B, not 16A-16B).

Someone who is ready to start in a more advanced math course (based on AP/IB/A-level credit and reviewing old Math 1A final exams) and who will be taking more advanced math courses (e.g. 1B, 53, 104) anyway may still choose to start in a more advanced math course even if pre-med.
