Undeclared major and honors program

D has been admitted into honors program with an undeclared major. Since it seems that most students have been admitted into specific schools within NEU, I was wondering how it works for those who are undeclared.

Is there a specific distribution they take in different schools before deciding? How does the honors program play into this? Seminars, etc? D is interested in about 4 different fields of study.

She is still applying to many schools, many with open curriculums which really let one explore.

I was accepted EA undeclared honors 2 years ago. I think NU does a wonderful job of helping students choose an appropriate major. They all take “Connections and Decisions” which is like the intro to college course everyone else takes. They go to Meet the Majors and What’s in a Major and also learn about pre-med, pre-law, etc. I was in the class for students interested in International Affairs and really got a lot out of the experience. She’ll probably be advised to take one class in each of her areas of interest. There will most likely be honors sections of the courses she’s interested in. Let me know if you have any other questions!
