Undeclared major?

I applied as a physiology and neuroscience major, but I got in undeclared :O Will that effect me, and when can I declare it?

I believe your major is impacted so they probably didn’t think your stats were good enough compared to others who applied under that major. I believe you can declare for an impacted major after your freshmen year. So if you’re set on that major (and don’t want anything similar), you need to get good grades your first year and hope they allow you to switch into it.

I got same thing. I wanted Aerospace Engineering and got undeclared, and I didn’t get into Earl Warren. I’ll probably be going to Davis.

I heard you can declare your major as soon as you get there, no need to wait for end of freshman year.

@ niklas my son is in the same situation…he’ll likely see you at Davis!!

About 80% of college students will change their major at least once and something like 60-65% will change it two or three times. If this is the school you want to attend, I wouldn’t worry too much about the major. Many students opt to apply undeclared so they may pursue exploring the broad options offered by most universities.

By undeclared do you mean that no major was stated or did it say undeclared because my message didn’t have a major. Does this mean i got in undeclared?

Yes,you can declare your major anytime you want, but you won’t be able to declare under an impacted major until after your freshmen year. It’s impacted because it’s a popular major so the department becomes more selective of who they admit.
