Undeclared now, hoping to get into Jacobs

Hey guys, I'm a newly undergrad student at UCSD (Sixth). I applied for Mech/Aero Engineering but I didn't get accepted into the Engineering department (Jacobs), and so I had to choose Undeclared instead. Even if I wasn't accepted into engineering initially, I was fine with it, because I'm still passionate about pursuing that field in the future; so I was wondering-how difficult will it be for an Undeclared like me to get accepted into the Jacobs School of Engineering early on (first or second year)?

P.S. I've taken 8 APs, including Physics, Calc, Stats, and Bio. And passed 'em too, so that should give me at least a handful of credits.

It is pretty difficult to get into the Jacobs school from being an undeclared major. You will need to take all the same classes as engineers and then petition to get into the major after your sophomore year. It is getting harder since more and more majors are becoming impacted. I would suggest a major that is close to engineering like physics or any other hard science that can help you become an engineer in the future.
