<p>If you choose L&S, intended major makes no difference for admission per se (though it should not be inconsistent with your essay). All entering L&S freshmen enter undeclared. Those who want to do business have to apply to the business school in their second year. Because economics is a capped major in L&S, those who want to declare economics also have to apply to declare the major after completing the prerequisites.</p>
<p>Of course, admission selectivity may differ if you choose a different division. E.g. undeclared in the CoE is likely more selective than undeclared in L&S.</p>
<p>It doesn’t matter at all. All candidates are evaluated the same within L&S and they will all come in as undeclared regardless of what their application says. The major is just a placeholder.</p>
