Undeclared- questions about major choices

I was just recently accepted as Undeclared L&S - Social Science.

So far, I am looking at going into Business/Economics (an impacted major) for my freshmen year. Is that be possible since I am an incoming freshmen and undeclared social science? How hard is this process? Do I just show up at the summer orientation and talk with a counselor?

Also, is there any chance of me switching into a major in the College of Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering)?

Any comments/ suggestion on the process or majors would be great

It should be easy to switch into the pre-major, which is what you’ll be doing.

You cannot actually declare Bus-Econ until you complete the pre-reqs. After that, you submit an application (assuming you meet at least the minimum GPA requirements) to join the major. It’s a competitive major, so you’ll have to do well in your Econ and Management (aka Accounting) classes.

Switching into HSSEAS (the school of engineering) is possible from L&S, but it is very competitive and not simply a piece of paper to switch. You’ll probably have to take the engineering classes and maintain a good GPA in order to switch (so Chem and such). I dunno how hard it is to get in, but definitely not easy.

Best,
CP

If I recall correctly, you can switch to pretty much any major you want during the summer orientation. Just talk to your orientation counselor. Shouldn’t be too difficult especially since you haven’t even started taking classes.
