undegrad in physics math to phd engineering

Hi,

How hard is it to get into phd programs in mechanical/electrical engineering having done physics-math in college? I only took one engineering course and then decided not to do it.. but now.. after thinking thru about my future, i feel that an engineering degree might be more secure.. don't bash me about do a phd only if you like it those kind of stuff

It’s not hard at all, although it depends on what kind of research you want to do. I know of a few EE professors who even PREFER physics majors over EEs.

Right now I’m doing transistors research (building them using new materials) and I am keen on continuing that in grad school…

bump…

Building transistors out of new materials sounds exactly like electrical engineering research. You shouldn’t face any problem.s
