Under bed storage

Would someone be so kind as to measure the height of the beds (specifically in Danforth if that makes a difference)? We'd like to purchase some under the bed storage drawers and don't want to get things that won't fit. Thanks so much!

The beds loft so there’s quite a bit of height possible. I know we purchased a three drawer thing from Target and it fit fine (with the bed off the ground)

Take a look at these Pix of a modern double: [Photos from Dardick House (2008-2009) | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=18508988914&view=all). Show bed when fully lofted and not lofted at all.

There’s lots of pix of traditional double & triple on this site: (note - the beds may not loft as high in these rooms??? or maybe they just didn’t raise the beds all the way): [Photos from WashU '12 | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=5542356405&view=all)

Yeah by the time you combine putting the mattress rack on the top notch and putting bed-lifts (from Target or wherever) under the bedposts, you could practically put any normal drawer set under there… The only limit is how high you (or your son/daughter) can jump ;)

Where do you get bed lifts? Are they available at the dorms or do we need to purchase them before coming? If so, where is the best place to get them and what exactly should we be looking for? Thanks again.

bed lifts? Cinder blocks are higher and cheaper :)

If you put the bed on the highest setting, the dresser provided can fit underneath- no bed lifts necessary (and any other under bed storage should work as well).

… But I often had to get a running start to make it onto my bed since I’m so short.

Yeah- my D didn’t bother with the bedlifts either - would be a bit too high to get into without assistance (notice the stool under the bed in the one picture of the bed with lifts…!)

ummm, they make these things called folding stepladders? LOL You can get a 3 step one for cheap and it is only like 2.5-3 feet tall and folds up to about 3" deep. Should make it easy to get into a higher bed.

To try to get back to the original question, I’m gonna guess that anything under 40" should fit under the bed, one way or another? I’m kinda guesstimating though…

fallen- I actually used a chair to climb up. Way too cheap of a college student to actually buy anything.

So, if you don’t buy anything special, how high can you raise the bed (what would the clearance be without additional bed lifts)?

did you look at the pictures? those bed lifts aren’t lifting more than another 6 inches. The wooden dresser fits under the bed without the lifts even. Dorms are closed; probably no one there right now to measure! You could call res life and ask.

Yeah, Palmalk is correct - there’s probably no one there to measure atm… I do know that I kept a 28"H bookshelf (not the provided one) under my bed with basically no clearance, although my bed was two or three notches from the max I think, and I didn’t use lifts.
