Got this letter today from Ross today... Anyone else? Strange that is not an acceptance and not a rejection. Haven't heard of this one yet....Any Ross alumni who got this message and were eventually admitted? Or is this a nice way to say Rejected????

"You application remains under consideration within our active candidate pool as we continue identifying the top candidates. We do not require any additional information from you. You will receive a final admission decision as soon as possible but no later than April 13."

I got this too. Is this some sort of deferral or just a notice that they’re still processing?

Never heard of this on CC… I am assuming it is a nice way to reject the candidates who did not make the top of the list. And if there are spaces, they may be offered to these candidates. Depends on how many other people got the message.

A straight-out ‘no’ would have been better, or at least a more clearly-worded letter.

Especially since they said we would hear back by in a certain timeframe. Also, my acceptance to UMICH depends on if I am pre admit to Ross.

I got this too. I just wanted a yes or no instead of having to wait.

“Especially since they said we would hear back by in a certain timeframe. Also, my acceptance to UMICH depends on if I am pre admit to Ross.”

There are probably plenty of others who are thinking the same as you and I am sure the school is well aware of it.

do you guys think this is like a waitlist/deferral? Or is it just letting students who have yet to hear that their decisions are coming? I know admitted EA students should have heard March 9, and the admissions office said that decisions would be released that week and the next week, so I’m just wondering if its a deferral or just trying to let kids know whats going on

I’m an EA student but I got that “wait-listed” e-mail today as well. In any case, for RD applicants, if you don’t get into Ross’ Pre-admit program, you may still be accepted to LSA, like most EA applicants at the moment.

This is my guess:

Ross is anticipating only 100 Pre-admit students this fall. They admitted a few very top ones to Ross already last Tuesday/Wednesday. Knowing those admitted last week could have also applied to HYPSM + Wharton etc., Ross is awaiting passing the Ivy common date (March 29), in hope of getting a more accurate count from those admitted to HYPSM + Wharton (hence may not come to Ross so will decline the Ross offer), to decide how many more Ross Pre-admit they can offer in April, hence the April 13 date.

I spoke to one of the Directors at Ross today, he said it is not to be taken as a deferral it is more of a notice that they are still reviewing applications. With that being said I think that Jaguarfan’s take on the situation is absolutely correct. I think this letter may have also been sent because I’m sure that Ross got inundated with phone calls last week when everyone was panicking about not getting a decision at all, while some were accepted.

Guys you are all freaking over nothing. That letter was not a deferral. If it was they would have clearly stated it, everyone got one. It’s just like the letter we got from undergrad admissions saying that they were still reviewing our apps and would be releasing them starting December 16th(i think that was the date). No big deal.
