I heard the JHU just started an economics/finance undergrad major. Does anybody know anything about this?

Also do they have an undergrad business program? If so, how is it rated?

They got a Economics department...and they have an entrepreneurship and management minor...but i haven't heard of a finance program.

Here is the story about the new Center for Financial Economics at Hopkins:
Johns Hopkins Gazette | November 5, 2007

As the lead paragraph states, the plan is to ULTIMATELY offer an undergraduate major and minor ... it does not currently exist.

Hopkins does not have a business program. As GWB stated we offer:

Economics: JHU Department of Economics : Undergraduate Program
Entrepreneurship and Management: W. P. Carey Program in Entrepreneurship & Management

The Econ department at JHU, however, is very good. Many students go onto careers in finance. In fact, I think a lot of corporate recruiters think Econ is a better degree than finance because Econ is much broader whereas finance/business is quite narrow in scope.

That said, JHU is one of the least "Pre-professional" schools out there which is a huge draw. Students don't go to JHU to get a job later on, but rather learn, be challenged and explore. Great jobs are the result of that experience and not the driving force behind it.

a lot of kids here do applied math and statistics and economics

I do pure math and economics. but yes, many do applied math and economics. those are usually more interested in finance, and they are healthily recruited.
