<p>Do private universities apply the same diversity preferences to countries when looking at a pool of international applicants, as they do to states when looking at American applicants? For example, someone might have a better chance at Stanford being from like.. North Dakota, with great SAT scores than they do from an over-represented state. But do they do this with countries as well when looking at international apps?</p>
<p>Yes. If you are from a country in Africa or Latin America that would be an advantage-because highly qualified Hispanic and African students are sought after-internationally as well as domestically. If you are from India or China or Korea, you are one of a multitude and only the best are accepted, let alone offered scholarships.</p>
