It says on one of Berkeley's departmental pages that Math 1A and 1B can be satisfied (and thus skipped) through Advanced Placement. In order to pass 1A and/or 1B, what AP classes should I have taken and what scores should I have gotten?

[Answer from the Math department.](http://math.berkeley.edu/courses_AP.html)

Short summary of the above:

5 on AP Calculus AB: skip Math 1A, go to Math 1B
5 on AP Calculus BC: skip Math 1A and 1B, go to Math 53 and/or 54 (but self-study some introductory differential equations before Math 54)
3 or 4 on AP Calculus (either): you can skip Math 1A and go to Math 1B, but the Math department says that some students may want to start over in Math 1A
