I am currently a sophomore in a MT program. I am looking for songs for my rep book for the spring semester. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of UNDERdone songs or shows(either more contempory or pre 1965 MT as I have to have both for my book)? I have been racking my brains for some but anything I think of has been horribly overdone or others in the department are singing it. I am a first soprano but I often sing mezzo songs too. Some songs I have sang are: Simple- Nine, Is It Really Me?- 110 In The Shade, Why Can't You Behave?- Kiss Me Kate.... etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much! :)

My D recently did a terrific song called “I’m Not” in her recital, but I can’t track down the show it was in. A fun song she did once is “Passover.”

I love “I’m Not” as well, but I have heard so many kids doing it that I’m afraid it’s becoming overdone. There’s a great song from “13” called – I think – “That’s What It Means to Be a Friend”, by Jason Robert Brown. I also like “My Lifelong Love” by Georgia Stitt. Those are 2 nice contemporary songs. For more classic songs take a look at the show “Plain & Fancy”; quite a few nice womens songs in that one.

“I’m Not” is from Little by Little. It is in a collection my daughter has but she is at school. I think she found it by doing a google search for the name and the colllection came up. It is a collection of more contemporary numbers.
