<p>I guess he’s thinking he could have had the warehouse job without a college degree. So far, all his college experience has gained him is debt. Even if he had gone to jail, he still wouldn’t have the financial debt. It’s a dumb comment, but I think he’s just trying to relate the frustration of his present circumstances. </p>
<p>The problem is, the longer he fails to get a position related to his professional interests, the less his chances will be of ever finding one. Even in tough times, employers won’t be able to accept that he is that old with virtually no work related experience unless there are some other underlying problems (which there may be). They’d probably avoid someone like this in favor of a more recent grad who has at least completed an internship somewhere.</p>
