Hey so right now I'm a junior. I'm currently looking for bach/md programs. In the case I don't get into one, I'm considering going to college in the philippines because it's inexpensive. Do you know of one can do undergrad abroa and still to to a good med school in the us??

Btw, I'm a native born us citizen, so when I apply to med here, i won't be considered international I think.

Bigreddawgie’s suggestion is indeed the best route for you, if you are capable of achieving that.

If for some reason you are not able to do that:
Going the BS/MD route may not be the cheapest, as compared to the route suggested by Bigreddawgie.
Going to a college overseas may have some risk: you may end up being an applicant who applies without being a resident of any state. No state would consider you an in-state resident. At least in our state, being a resident of the state is more important than being a US citizen, when you apply to any school funded by the state government (not by US federal government.) You had better think twice before you decide to go overseas for your UG education.

Really bad idea. Courses won’t match up. Med schools will hate it. And I’m quite doubtful that your pre-med advisor will know their  from a hatrack about US med school admissions.

No only won’t match up. Every US med school I can think of requires that at least 2 years of your undergrad and all of your science pre-reqs be completed at an accredited US or Canadian college or university.

What everyone else has already said; if you’re considering BA/MD programs, you could probably get a full scholarship somewhere. I would advise against a foreign undergrad UNLESS you go somewhere that undergrad and med school are fused together-- UK and Japan do that, and I’m sure many other countries do too. In such a system, undergrad plus med school usually takes 6 years. You can then apply for residency in the U.S.; you likely won’t get into a top program, but as long as you speak English well and did a good job in school you can probably get in somewhere.
