What are some schools that have great job placement after undergrad at management consulting/other business firms?

I have heard of Penn (Wharton), Harvard (Studying Econ.), Wash U (Olin), Cornell (AEM), Stanford (Studying Econ.), Columbia (Studying Econ or Business Management), Georgetown (SFS), Notre Dame, and Emory (Gouizeta).

What other colleges/college programs are strong in job placement for business?

Add Ross (UMich) too. You are better off getting an MBA for consulting, however

Right, someone told me that if I get into a Top 10 business program, then it’s worth attending. However, if not, then I should pursue Economics. Anyone else have any recommendations for top econ schools as well?

And I think in that link, it only includes schools that have a specific undergrad business program.

Highly respected economics departments at universities:

  1. Harvard
  2. MIT
  3. Princeton
  4. UC-Berkeley
  5. UChicago

At liberal arts colleges:

  1. Williams
  2. Wellesley
  3. Middlebury
  4. Wesleyan
  5. Hamilton

Northwestern, Dartmouth and Duke are also very strong in Econ.

Pomona’s economics department is ranked 26th in the Ideas data, which is based on publishing citations. You would also be able to take classes at 6th ranked Claremont McKenna.

Great thank you. It was just surprising that Pomona usually ranks so highly, and Econ is the most popular major, but it ranks 26 on this list.

Well, you can look at it as a competitive list, where 26th really isn’t that bad.

The data itself is not a perfect indicator either.

You didn’t put up any stats and the schools you mentioned are tough.

I would also suggest, BC, Lehigh, Bucknell, Wake Forest, William & Mary, Villanova, TCNJ, Richmond, Fordham and Northeastern for business programs. The selective Northeastern LACs have very strong Economics programs.

I have never heard the Top 10 thing that you mentioned.

UCB has an undergraduate business school (Haas), which is a great option if you are in state. Texas and UVA are good options too if you’re in state (for the cost factor).

Sorry, here are my stats:

Academic:
-3.99 GPA UW
-No ranking at school, but probably Top 3
-One of the most rigorous schedules (12 APs/9 Honors)
-2130 SAT (750 M and W, 630 CR) (Only taken once with little prep, so I am aiming to bring CR up to 750)

Awards:
~International and Multiple State-level Debate Awards
~3 State-level Science Fair awards (For both paper and poster presentations)
~National Spanish Exam awards
~National History Day award (Regional level)
~Some other minor stuff, but Debate and Science Fair awards will be main

Extracurriculars:

  1. Education Non-Profit (Most important and main EC) ~Founder and Executive Director of a Non-Profit online learning platform ~We make our own free, engaging content with the goal to help students become self-interested in learning

~Partnered with a city school district to adopt our content in afterschool programs
~Partnered with local Homeless shelter to bring these lessons there

~Secured international partnership to adopt content in a school for orphans in a rural Indian city for next summer, and part of my team and I will travel there to direct it’s implementation

  1. Founder and Leader of Student-Run Community Organization ~We organize campaigns to collect items for teachers, students, or schools in the state that lack particular resources ~One group partners with local organizations to collect and allocate these items to the needy schools ~Second group visits poor schools in the region, and does hands-on, creative workshops with students on how to cope with poverty ~Originally had purpose of collecting items for any needy demographic in the state, but recently a nearby school district was unfairly monopolized by local politicians influenced by corporations, and resources are only being funneled into the affluent schools, while the other schools are neglected. So we basically try to help these neglected schools. ~We have small chapters of this organization in 2 other local high schools, and we all collaborate together
  2. Startups ~Only work on it during summers ~Attempted some EdTech-related startups during summers, but none successful or successful yet ~I'm currently working on another that deals with school uniforms, and I hope to expand it in the future in college
  3. Voluntary Tutoring ~Provide free summer ACT tutoring during summer ~Read to toddlers at library for free during summer ~Close Tutor/Mentor for disadvantaged inner-city students during school year
  4. President of Debate Club ~Ranked Top 25 in the South ~Ran/Organized a school-hosted state competition with 110 student participants and 8 schools across the state ~Organize trips to national and state competitions
  5. Law Firm internship (Out of Country) ~Researched/Wrote economic outsourcing investment-benefit report for a law firm to provide background research on various outsourcing models for lawyers.
  6. Co-President of Science Club ~Speakers and Community outreach ~Introduced Middle School science fair to school
  7. Soccer (Varsity) (Only Spring) -2nd Place in State and won conference a few times ~Varsity since 10th Grade ~Freshman Year: Played for Club instead of school for Spring semester
  8. Club Soccer (Only Fall) ~2nd place in big tournament in the South (or, to word it better, 2nd place in entire South) ~Team selected to play in numerous tournament. ~Played for 3 v 3 club Junior year, so not as time consuming

Factors: ~50K, single-parent household
