The statistics, admissons criteria and rating of the schools indicate that Wake Forest and U of Richmond are almost the same. Wake Forest seems to get better press, though. What do people in UR business think?

Our business school is highly competitive. I can't speak to comparing UR to Wake Forest, but I can tell you about what UR has to offer. It is ranked in the top 25 Business schools by Business week as #23 and #4 for its academic quality. It is the only top-ranked liberal arts university that is also a top-ranked business school. Along with the rest of our majors, the classes are kept very small. So the class average is 20 with the student-faculty ratio to be 10:1. This small size helps to really personalize the classroom for each student. Students can get very involved in their major as well through extracurricular activities and honor societies. One specific organization is the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) which allows students to be able to invest funds given by the Board of Trustees allowing students to gain real life experience and apply what they have learned in the areas of securities analysis and portfolio management.

The majors that are offered are Economics, Accounting and Business Administration. When you major in Business Administration you focus your study with a concentration in accounting, finance, economics, marketing or management. Also there is an optional concentration in international business. There are also pre-professional tracks offered in each of these departments. Minors are also available in Business Administration.

It is great that the business school is well known causing specific employers to come back each year to recruit the UR graduates. To helps students find jobs, we have a Career Development Center right on campus.

The business school is also constantly being renovated to make sure it can stay such a competitive institution. In the next five years a $16.8 million dollar renovation will occur to include a new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a finance trading room, business research center, 225-seat auditorium, café and reception area, and more classrooms and offices.
