Hey guys and gals,
Next year I will be attending univeristy. I have received offers from both Carleton Univeristy for their journalism program (which is very competitive) and UoT for economics (another very competitive program).
I want to major in something that will be most beneficial for me in the long run and ultimately get me prepared for law school. Here are the factors:
At carelton, you’re expected to take a double major as well as learn another language in their journalism program. With this, I can expand my field of knowledge to a broader scale. My aunt is a politician for a riding in the city. She spends most of her week in Toronto down at Queen’s park but during the weekend she attends community events that she has planned herself. Something that I can cover for some potential assignments if I wish to attend Carleton. Moreover, potential networking can be done due to her strong relations with the liberal party.
Now when it comes to UoT, my aunt works right beside the campus. Being very close with my aunt in terms of our relationship, it is bound that I will have an internship due to her involvment of economic development within the province. Once again, potential networking can occur with interactions between other MPPs that she works with.
Within those four given years of education I not only want to learn (duh), but network as much as I can as well as get prepared for law school. I’m stuck in between the two as Toronto is one the biggest cities in Canada and who knows who I will meet down there through my aunts connections. While Carleton has its own pros due to the respects of my aunt’s position.
Also, does it really matter what type of degree I get if I want to get into law school? It would make this a lot more easier!
