Undergrad in 3 Years (Communications)

My son in contemplating finishing his undergrad in 3 years with a B.A. in Communications. He loves this major, and has a 3.9 GPA after completing his freshman year. He is questioning how grad schools will perceive both the undergrad completion in 3 years, and the B.A. in Communciations. Although he loves his major and excels at it, he has been told that it is a major for "dummies" and that it will be perceived that way by grad schools. His other option would be to stay the four years and double major. His reasoning for wanting to graduate in 3 years is purely financial. Why spend the extra money on an additional year of undergrad when that money can be used towards grad school or law school?

Thanks for your advice.
