Undergrad major to pursue career in public health?

I’m interested in a career in public health, like biostatistics-type work with the CDC or WHO. Many schools don’t offer a Public Health undergrad major and I’m not sure what I would major in to pursue such a career?

Some combination of math, stats, computer science, biology, economics. Specialize in biostats in grad school, develop foundational knowledge in undergrad, and shabang, 90% of the schools out there come into play. Mother disciplines. Just like that. Shabang.

Human nutrition is another feeder for that career.

Within the broad public heath arena there are – no different than many other enterprises – dozens of relevant disciplines. Public heath requires marketing, accounting, management, finance, human resources, engineers, IT, public affairs, operations research, and countless other professionals . . . in addition to the scientists, medical providers, and others that one might initially consider as “public health professionals” It might be a good idea to research the U S Public Health Services’ website to ascertain which undergraduate-level fields are most interesting.
