My parents want me to be a doctor by majoring in biology but I don’t like it at all. I like psychology but they strongly denied it, even emotionally blackmailed me. I don’t know what to do right now.
Perhaps you could just try to talk it over with them once more? I really do not know your situation but im sorry if this is causing you any hardship. Ultimately, this is your life and I do believe that if you feel psychology is your path, you should follow that.
No specific major is required to go to medical school, but medical schools require some course prerequisites (which are mostly the same as frosh/soph biology major courses, plus upper level biochemistry) that can be taken alongside any major.
What do you want to do with psychology? Before you worry you’re going to be miserable in college studying subjects not related to what you want out of life, just know that many of the general studies courses are required for any scientific major. Psychology is absolutely required and useful for premed and you can inform your parents that the classes you’re taking are necessary. Nobody can know for certain they’ll even get into medical school so perhaps once you’re actually in college for a while your parents may soften their stance.
