Undergrad math, BA or BS?

Does it make a difference? I have been constantly digging through NYU and BU's websites to find out which they offer. I cannot find a definite answer on either. Does the degree make too much of a difference for math? I realize it does for sciences like physics and chemistry, but haven't heard a lot about math. And lastly, should the degree offered affect my decision?

The only difference is the mix of general education requirements. For example, a BS might require you to take one year’s worth of physics and calculus regardless of your major, while a BA might require proficiency in a foreign language regardless of major. The actual major requirements are typically the same.

you need a BS for many grad school programs (i.e. med school)

If that was true, my college would never send someone to med school. Everyone, including physics and chemistry majors, gets a BA.

Can you back up your claim that certain graduate programs have a preference for one degree over another?
