Does anyone know of any specific research labs (preferably in the bio/biomed areas and paid) that undergrads (particularly underclassmen) can get into? And, is there a specific procedure for getting to know a professor who's lab you want to work in, or do you just show up to his door with a resume and recs?

Dr. Rita Fuchs is a psychology professor that does some really famous (at least according to my friend that goes to UVA, who is obsessed with her work) studies on the effects of drugs and some other psych/neuroscience-y stuff if you’re into that. I took her first year seminar (Drug Addiction) my freshman year and when I showed interest, she gave me a tour of her lab and pretty much offered an internship.

Most undergrad research is unpaid though. Just a heads up.

I’d send her or whoever’s lab you are interested in an email and just ask for more info.
