I need advice on the best career/education path towards career goal of Managerial/Director of a tech company (ie: biotech).

I noticed many executives have a strong technical degree such as Ph.D or M.D. in addition to MBA.

I am choosing between Undergraduate Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and eventually MBA (probably not top 10), versus undergraduate at Wharton with some technical classes.

Any opinions? (rate of return of salary, costs, time, etc)

i'm not very knowledgable in those fields or anything so don't take my word for it, but i'm thinking that if you go to berkeley for undergrad and get a degree in bioengineering, you could apply to penn for graduate school, since they have one of the top MBA programs in the country, and get both degrees that way.

that was a long sentence.

Why if you went to Berkeley could you not go to a top 10 MBA school? I think for working at a tech company that an undergrad in a technical degree followed up with an MBA would be much better than just an undergrad business degree. Arguably, the undergrad technical degree without the MBA would still be better than an undergrad business degree.

thanks for the input.
as for top ten B school, i just feel its tough to have great grades in engineering, i'll probably graduate with a 3.4 at best. my language skills are also not the best so the GMAT will be a challenge.

i dont want to end up in research..

I think at this point you have to ask yourself which is more important: being involved in the tech company at all, or not being a researcher?

You got into Wharton, and you want to be a manager....go to Wharton UG

if you go to wharton, you're pretty much set for life.

Professional Advice Needed: MBA/Master's @ wharton
I have chosen UC berkeley engineering over wharton business in hopes to build a solid foundation in sciences before gaining business degree. is it possible to earn an MBA directly after graduating from undergrad or is working experience required. thanks

Seems like you should be at UC Berkeley now, so why are you still asking?
