Undergrads Working at Hospital

Does Duke have a lot of opportunities for undergrads to work/volunteer at the hospital/med school? I visted Wash U last week and was amazed that my sophomore host worked at the Wash U hospital and was wondering if it was similar at Duke. Thanks!

Duke has a program during the year where you can volunteer/shadow physicians at the Duke Hospital… try google searching “premed at Duke” and you will probably find what I’m talking about.

and Duke Hospital is right on the campus so there is no “down time” traveling to the hospital to work!

It’s just as easy for any Duke student to get a job working at the hospital as it is at the library (probably easier). I’ve never heard of someone wanting to work there who didn’t/couldn’t.

You can definitely work there as an undergraduate!

Duke really wants you to get involved with the hospital and have as much clinical exposure as possible. Your pre-health advisor encourages it. And a lot of kids get to do it. It’s not exclusive.

If you’re premed, here’s a little snippet I like to share.
