How many people in Princeton got in with scores of
SAT1: Maths 790
Verbal:640
Writing 770
and about 760+ each in Physics Chem and Maths IIC in the SAT2s?
Are these scores way too low or are they average?

You look good to me except for your verbal score, which is below average for a place like Princeton. Is english not your primary language? Are you a URM? There may be special circumstances that may been to be taken into consideration, but if you are a typical white/asian applicant with that score you really need to bring it up to have a realistic chance.

thanks hamster i did mess up CR badly; never got the hang of the comprehensions otherwise am I OK I've got good grades through the last 4-5 years. been top of my class. And I've got piano and Head Boy as my main ECs. But should I retake still?

^ jehangir - a lot of it depends on which pool you fall in. I mean, if u are asian (i know a hotelier in India with the same name :) ) then you are in a competitive pool, and it wont hurt to retake.
if you are in international pool - retake. a lot of intels will have perfect scores, music, headboys, etc. etc. just look at the chances thread of fellow intels applying to class 2010

thanks adides and I do know jehangir cama of cama hotels I am indian and thanks again for the advice

I think you are safely in that "gray area" where most applicants fall in. That said, you will have a chance but the other parts of your application will make you or break you (ECs, essays). There are so many people with those stats who are rejected, and plenty who are "worse" but accepted, depending on how the other parts of their apps looked.

your scores are average overall. Really, it's that verbal dragging it down; the other scores are very solid.
