I am thinking of going to Northwestern for College but would like someone to please explain to me how the Undergraduate Business program works at NU. I would like to study marketing in college and hopefully get a masters in Business in 5 years. Is there any way to do this at NU? If so, how do I go about doing so?
Thanks in advance

There is no program specifically for undergrad business, but there are a ton of other options, and one specifically for marketing. Medill (the Journalism school) has that marketing program. Weinberg CAS has Economics, which is a very popular major, and there is also a minor in Weinberg, Business Institutions, that professes to teach the social underpinnings of business institutions instead of just how to do business or something like that, but there’s probably some practical lessons one could glean from that knowledge base. SESP has Learning and Organizational Change, a major which an acquaintance described as “pre-business” as in pre-MBA. McCormick (the engineering school) has an industrial engineering major that largely consists of people wanting to get into business. The School of Communication has a program in Communication Studies, which I believe to be a stepping stone toward the marketing side of business. The Kellogg School of Business has two certificate programs open to undergraduates as well, though admission to those programs is highly competitive. Additionally, I’m sure you could major in something not in that list and still get involved in the business community. Other CC’ers, please post if I’m missing something!
As for a masters, Kellogg has a fair amount of masters programs, and I think there are a few of them that are one year programs. I do not believe that there are any five-year programs that specifically allow one to earn an MBA or like degree, but I may be wrong.
Explore these options by googling them and finding the corresponding websites, its a good way to procrastinate or kill time while feeling productive!
There’s the Russell Fellows program that allows (only) NU undergrads to earn a 1-year Masters from Kellogg. Admission to that is competitive, though.
