Undergraduate Business School Help

I'm having some trouble figuring out what school I want to go to/still want to apply to. So far, I have applied ED to WUSTL and have been accepted DA to IU in Bloomington. Currently I am top 6% in my class, out of ~450 students, 30 composite on the ACT, a lot of leadership positions and am very involved in the band program at my school.

I want to major in business. I'm not totally sure what in business, whether it be finance, management, IB etc. and I want to continue my interest in foreign language and my passion for music in college. It's possible for me to change my mind about business, but for now, it's what I'm going for; I do a lot of activities that are business oriented in school.

If I got in to WUSTL, I'd obviously go there. I'm still thinking about applying to other places, like BC, Wake Forest, Michigan, Emory, and UVA. I wouldn't apply to all of these but I'm not sure which ones I should apply to. IU is great, but I feel like it's a second tier school and that I could do better than it.

WUSTL gives me a lot of the things I want: nice, small, discussion based classes, diversity in the student body, study abroad, cooperative environment while still being competitive, very popular and easy to do interdisciplinary program (so I could pursue business, music and foreign language). I want to go to a school where I will have these things as well as have good connections when I come out.

What schools that I listed (any other suggestions are welcome) would give me these things? IU has a great business, foreign language and music program, but overall, it's not as strong. It's a big school with some larger class sizes and I'm not sure how they are with cross school majoring and/or dual degrees. They also don't have the same name brand that would give me connections for a job (I don't believe) like a Wharton would.

IU might be a second-tier school, but it’s not so for business. It’s a very good business school. It’s also very strong in languages, so you could do much much worse. Kelley grads do quite well on the job market. You’re not going to Wharton, so don’t compare every school to Wharton or you’ll be going to Kelley next year.

the other schools you’ve named are not in line with your ACT score. Your GPA is fine and so too the ECs, it seems, but that ACT could keep you out of every other school you’ve named.

You also have to consider affordability. Have you run the net price calculator at each school and talked to your parents about what they will contribute?

For additional schools, you really need affordable, probably small colleges that don’t consider test scores or that will give your resumé a thorough going over. Put those ECs in the best light and emphasize leadership. Finding a school that will allow you to major in all three is going to be tough; even 2 majors and a minor will be very difficult to find.

I know it’s not much of a difference but superscored I have a 31 composite. IU seems like a good fit but it has some major drawbacks for me; it’s a big public school which means some fairly large classes. Getting individual attention is an important factor for me, but I don’t want a tiny school. I was looking at Richmond, but decided it might be too small. On the other hand, IU is another extreme. I hear there are a decent amount of kids who really have no drive; that’s at most big public schools but I’d still like to be surrounded by kids who are passionate about things and who have a lot of drive. I know I’d be able to find them at IU but still. Additionally, I hear it a lot of classes are taught by TA’s which I’m not too fond of.

My parents are willing to pay for college (very grateful) and it’s not really a barrier, although scholarship money never hurts.

Do any of the schools I listed (or any others) have the kind of things WUSTL has? It’s my top choice for the reasons I said before, which is why I applied ED. Even if they are reach schools due to my ACT scores or other factors, I’d like to have choice if I don’t get into WUSTL (since it’s by no means an easy acceptance). I’d just like some more options for schools that can give me the things I love about WUSTL (medium sized school, small classes with individual attention, great business school, nationally recognized etc.)
Thanks so much!

There are few medium size schools with u/g business as great as these schools that you are quite likely to get into, in my opinion. Some possible candidates: Georgetown, Notre Dame, Bentley, W&M, Villanova, Lehigh. The last four of these might be your best bet.

Thank you for your suggestions! Can anyone give me their take on IU as far as teaching quality, individual attention/class sizes, cross-school majoring and advising? Are a majority of classes lecture-based or discussion-based?

You may want to post Kelley specific questions in the IU forum on CC. But are you directly being accepted into Kelley? It makes a difference.

My bad. This was my first post on this site, so I’m still figuring out all the threads and what not. I am direct admit to Kelley. I haven’t sent my most recent ACT scores which superscores me to a 31 but with that and a 4.0 GPA, I would most likely be in the Hutton Honors College as well.
