Undergraduate business schools

I'm currently a high school junior and I'm looking to get into some of the top undergraduate business programs, mainly for finance. My top would be Cornell Dyson, followed by Ross, Mccombs, Stern, Kelley, Emory, etc. (Not respectively).

Haven't taken the sat yet but aiming for a 2200+
Sat 2: chemistry (730)
Currently top 10% with a 96 (4.0) GPA
Freshmen year: AP Hug (5), rest were honors
Sophomore year: AP bio (4), AP stat (4), AP Euro (5), rest honors
Junior year: AP US, AP calc BC, AP lang, AP physics 1 and 2, AP psych
Prospective senior schedule: AP macro micro, AP lit, AP physics c, AP living environmental, AP Spanish
(Taking the most challenging schedules in my grade)
Extra curricular:
Student government: officer position every year with various fundraisers and school events
Debate: current secretary, 3 year member, 3x state qualifier, placed at states freshmen and sophomore year, currently a PF varsity debater
FBLA: current treasurer, 2 year member, placed at Long island competition and recognized by local politians, first year the team is going to states
Spanish honor society: first year member
Business honor society: first year member
Model UN: two year member
Deca: first year member, going to regional competition
Sports: 3 year JV wrestler, 3 year spring track (JV freshmen yr, varsity sophomore and hopefully this year as well)
Political campaign internship: 36 hours of canvassing/phone calls/recruiting other interns with democrat candidates
BRAC internship: traveled to Bangladesh summer after sophomore year to intern with the BRAC NGO (I'm bengali) in order to help create a cost efficient method of growing potatoes in third world countries, wrote a research paper which may or may not be published depending on how the new center in Kenya works. Worked with Dr. Javier Zapata
This summer, I'm helping to start the first Bangladesh community center in Brooklyn and will be in charge of youth projects. Details are still being sorted out as to what specific project I'll be undertaking.

If there's anything else I'm missing just ask in your responses. I'm from NY state so Cornell would be most ideal, but I don't really have a grasp on how far of a reach all these schools are for me. Thank you in advance!

Are you asking us to chance you?

@yikesyikesyikes
Yes

Alright, assuming you end up with a 2200+ SAT, 4.0 GPA, and extracurricular growth

Cornell Dyson is a crapshoot for almost anybody, but you are well-qualified, and being in-state might help (I think Dyson is part of the Agriculture school, which I am sure is one of the land grant colleges of Cornell). I am going to say reach.

Ross: Same situation as Dyson, except you are not in-state. Ross preferred Admission is about as competitive s Dyson from what I hear. It would be a lot easier to apply as a UMich student (sophomore?)

McCombs: I do not know enough about McCombs to give you a worthwhile response.

Stern: Based on my observations, you have very good chances with Stern- I’ll say about 40-60% chance of acceptance (that’s great!)

Kelley: Probably same as Stern, not entirely sure…

Emory Goizueta: I would assume it would be more competitive than Stern for you since it is Emory and Stern is NYU. Once again, I am not familiar enough to give you a half-good estimate. It might be the total opposite of what I said…

“etc.”, I’ll assume other undergrad business programs…

UPenn Wharton: Reach, similar situation as Dyson, except probably more difficult for you to gain admission

Georgetown McDonough: I would say a little less difficult than Ross Preferred, tough to say…

MIT Sloan: chances similar to Wharton- you might need to be a bit more STEM-y for Sloan than other business programs

CMU Tepper: I would say great chances, higher than Stern maybe.

UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Assured Admission: I would say similar chances as Ross, perhaps a little easier, I am not sure…

Some business schools are better than others in certain parts of business. For example: I would say Dyson, Wharton, Stern, and Ross probably have the best undergrad finance programs (not respectively).

At the end of the day, fit matters a lot for you AND the AdCom. Someone who would be completely at home at UMich Ross might not be a great fit at Goizueta… Keep in mind that is often a factor in admissions (depending on the AdCom), and this should definitely be a factor when you choose your school. I am a current high school senior myself, so I know how this college process feels- haha :P.

Best of Luck!

P.S. I did not address schools I think in which you basically exclusively apply after 1st or 2nd year of college (UVA McIntire, Notre Dame Mendoza, UC Berkeley Haas), but these are also great schools which you might want to look at…

A nice non-Ivy option that is still a wonderful program and completely competitive with plenty of opportunities is the University of Wisconsin-Madison school of Business.

If your numbers are as predicted, you will likely be invited to apply for direct freshman admit to the school (typically undergrads apply as a freshman for sophomore admittance and you must be INVITED to apply for freshman direct admit after indicating your interest in business on your app).

Look at UW-Madison as a whole as a safety school/low match and the Business School as an option as well.

How much does race/ethnicity play into the college process for these schools? I’m pretty sure most of my cousins put “other” on their college apps. Does that help?

Bump

Cornell Dyson: Reach
NYU Stern: Aim for 32+/2150+
UMI Ross: Aim for 32+/2150+
UT-Austin McCombs: Aim for 32+/2150+
IU Kelley: Aim for 29+/2000+
Emory Goizueta: Aim for 31+/2100+
UPenn Wharton: Reach
UNC Kenan-Flagler: Reach (it’s about the same as getting into Duke)

Might want to look at Babson and Villanova, too…

Stern’s gotten pretty difficult these days. I was just rejected with a 35 ACT, 2270 ACT, and a 3.7 gpa (uw) so you really have to work on your standardized tests if you wanna get into these schools.

@sgballsta did you apply anywhere else?

Yeah, twenty different schools. I applied to

Amherst College
Babson College

Boston College

Brown University

Carnegie Mellon University

Cornell University

Dartmouth College

Duke University
Johns Hopkins University

Northwestern University
Rice University
Swarthmore College

Tufts University

University of Chicago

University of Michigan

University of Notre Dame

University of Pennsylvania

University of Virginia

Washington University in St. Louis

Deferred UMich and UChicago.

This definitely looks top-heavy to me…

^^ I don’t see a single safety on that list.

Not so ninja edit: No safeties, got into Georgetown/Babson. So, removed the safeties.

Any other input?

I got a 2190 on my SAT, ill be taking it again in June. I also recieved a 31 on the ACT which I’ll also be retaking

There is no point in retaking a 2190…

@Catria my reading was a 680 so I want to bump that up. And I want above 750 in math as well

Bumpp

I hear Indiana has a great bus. school. That’s from our GC. Oft overlooked?
