I know that Berkeley has an undergraduate division of the Haas Business School. After browsing the site, it said for juniors. Does that mean that freshmen and sophomores can't take any business courses? Thanks.

As far as I know, they're required to take at least one business course, Undergraduate Business Administration 10 (UGBA 10). You apply to Haas after fulfilling particular requirements that are outlined on the website. Many people who are apply are rejected from the application process, about 40%. Some people decide to not do business after coming to Berkeley, and others might not apply because they feel they won't make it. Not everyone who intends to major in business gets to. I'm not sure what the deal is with non-business majors taking classes. Hopefully someone else knows. I'm aware of one other school that used to have a similar system, USC, but they changed this year (so now entering first-years are business majors.) Previously, one had to apply after two years to be admitted. Perhaps other schools do this as well.

"others might not apply because they feel they won't make it."

As in they don't think they will get admitted to the program, or don't think they can make it in the major once admitted?

They think that they won't get admitted to the program. If you have a 3.0 or below, it's likely that you're wasting your time in applying.

"I'm not sure what the deal is with non-business majors taking classes."

ORMS has UGBA 10 as a pre-req to the major, for one.

so what you're saying is that applying to the undergraduate business school is long after, and a separate process from applying to the college? Wow, I have good grades, but I don't like the idea of gambling my business opportunity. That's my intended major. Oh well.

anyone have info on stats of those accepted at haas?
