How strong is the CS program at Emory? Is it reputable? How good are the CS professors?

Pretty bad. If you want a computer science major, I suggest that you go to a school with an engineering program.

If you have the stats to get into Emory, you can get into schools with much better computer science programs. Course offerings are fairly limited for a school of Emory’s size. If you want good comp sci in Atlanta, go to Georgia Tech. Emory’s science strengths lie in traditional pre med fields of study.

That (understandably) sucks. At least Emory has the Dual-Degree Engineering program with Georgia Tech. I’d bet that a B.S. in CS from Emory and then an engineering degree from Georgia Tech would be a great combination regardless.

Would you get good financial aid at Emory?

Even if OP would get good financial aid at Emory it’s still not worth it IMO. Someone with the stats to get into Emory could likely get merit aid + preferential financial aid at schools which actually care about their computer science department.

And ExpendableAsset, the 3-2 program generally isn’t worth it, unless you’re a Georgia resident (HOPE scholarship)

trex792: No, I would not get “good” financial aid at Emory. I’ll have to borrow at least around $10-15,000 a year.

whenhen: Understood. Thanks for letting me know.

Are you from Georgia?

No, I am not from Georgia. But I do know a few things about Georgia Tech and Emory.
