Undergraduate Course Load

I'm a sophomore at one of the top 5 public universities, and I double majoring in art history & poli sci. I have enough credits from high school to be able to take 12 credit hours (four classes) every semester (that's the minimum to be a full-time student and 15 is the "average" amount students take). I was wondering if doing so would adversely affect my chances of getting into law school. I want to take a lighter load so I can have enough time to prepare for the LSAT and keep up my GPA, but I don't want it to seem like I'm not challenging myself.

GPA is definitely much more important than course load. That being said, I would definitely take some semesters with the standard 15 to show you can handle it.

i was in the same position as you, and i took the minimum almost every quarter and concentrated on my gpa.

the only year i didn’t do that was my first year and part of my second, and in retrospect, it was a really dumb choice. i got a 3.3 average first year because of this and because i didn’t really care much yet. switched to the minimum and have averaged a 3.9 since.

take less and do well.
