Undergraduate Major

Guys I have a quick question. I would appreciate if the posts remain factual and does not go off topic. What major is good for preparing for law school? I am interested in these subjects: Economics, History, Political Science, and I would also be interested in minoring in something like Spanish or Psych..Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards

I still think we should just have a pinned thread addressing this, the countless "what grades does LSAC count?" questions and other things that keep coming up.

One suggestion: When I was in law school (a long time ago) I found that many who did well were students who had some journalism background (either as a major, or working on school papers etc.) This is because law school exams consist of, for the most part, essay-type questions and the ability to write well, fast and in an organized way (hit the big points and then fill in and explain) are real assets.Newspaper-type writing seems to be a good training ground for this. Of course you have to be smart and analytical, but if you've made it to law school you probabaly are. ----there's also the theory that married students do better because they take it more seriously, but I don't recommend getting married for that reason.

I asked this question on this board a few weeks ago. Short summary of the answers people offered: Anything. You can major in Art History or Math and get into a good law school, along with history, English, poli sci and biology etc.

From several sources, not all on CC, I've seen people recommend Classics (Civ and Language). I forgot why exactly, but probably mostly to do with the amount of rigor and analytical skills it requires.

Classics and philosophy. Probably the best prep.

Now THIS should be stickied. :)
