Undergraduate research opportunities?

Hello, I was wondering how competitive undergraduate research opportunities are at Harvard compared to a school like Northwestern. How many overall research opportunities are there? I am not incredibly picky with what research I end up doing, but I would like to start as early as possible. I am likely to commit to Harvard soon. Thanks!

It’s relatively easy find a lab --lots of my peers did so freshman year. Also tons of my friends did a summer program called PRISE.

Funded programs like PRISE are competitive in the sense that not everyone who applies is selected,

There are infinite possibilities.

Generally like students to wait until second semester to start research.
Interviews with labs are in second semester for summer.

After that, some students make a 3- year commitment to a lab

It’s very odd that you aren’t picky about what research you want to do - you’re not simply building a CV to get into Harvard any more.
