Understand application deadlines

I've had this conversation many times with my mom and I still don't get it. Call me stupid, but I don't.

Some colleges have a deadline of February 1 for example. (That's DURING senior year, right?) I understand that. So I start school this Sept. and apply by 2/1/07?.

Now what about the colleges that have say, ... August or Jun/July deadlines. If it's the Aug/Jul DURING senior year, how is that possible if the fall term starts around Aug? That's the part I don't really understand.

It all confuses me.

I just need someone to clear this up.

Feb 1 deadline means u have to apply BEFORE FEB 1. they only accept applications that are submited before that date.

EA/ED is around Nov 1 for most colleges.

I understand the Feb 1 deadline. I just don't get the Aug deadlines.

idk who told you about the july&august deadlines, but the earliest date most colleges accept applications is around nov1.

no, schools that have rolling sometimes start accepting apps as soon as sept 15.

Nobody told me about the Jul/Aug deadlines. One of the schools I'm looking at has an August 15th deadline.

which specific schools are you talking about?

that will be AFTER your senior year. these schools are less competitive, but you will still have a better chance if you apply earlier. i had some schools with 2/15 deadlines, all my others were 1/15, and i sent out ALL my apps 1/15. it just makes life easier, and i heard from those two schools before their deadline =) [one i didnt even pay the app fee for, and i was accepted!]
