uneven stats

My friend has some very, VERY bizarre stats..... She's looking into alot of the top schools, mainly Cornell, and so I wanted to see what you guys think here chances are, esp. at Cornell...

First off, ECs

-Class president 4 yrs
-NHS Vice president
-lifeguarding
-debate
-ski instructor
-french club president

Took 8/16 APs available.. all 4s and 5s

SAT I 2360 (Math 760)
SAT II Lit 730 MATH II 710 French 770

... now that bad part.....

her gpa is only a 3.55 .... I myself am not too sure as to where this came from... but it's there and that's that... so what do you all think?

I think Cornell is a reach; her SATs are undoubtly very high, but her GPA is fairly low for a Cornell applicant. Considering Cornell places a lot of emphasis on grades/GPA, I think it might be a reach for her to get in.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s enough although unless your friend has a reason for this?..

She doesn’t have a hook and she doesn’t really stand out…so her chances are very low.

I think it probably matters a lot what her class rank is.

… Ooops, she does have legacy as well at cornell. (dad was a CAS grad) … any difference there?

Legacy will up her chances but keep in mind many legacies are rejected from Cornell every year.

Class rank?

school doesn’t rank, but in the top 10% at least.

Anyone else?

School will give enough info to rank. If she’s really top 10%, with the legacy tilt she has a shot. below top 10% no dice unless family donates large amounts.
