My daughter was asked the question, “which school do your parents want you to attend?”
She answered well, but she said she felt very on guard after that in the interview.

I was asked at Andover what kind of community my town is like…I thought it was kinda odd because I wasn’t asked anything about my town or community at any other interview

@siliconvalleymom - that’s interesting that they asked that. I think it’s a great question, from a school’s perspective, and one that kids should be prepared for. Out of curiosity, was she admitted to that school?

Have a friend of mine who’s son was pressed on the newest video games at the onset of the 1/1 interview. He didn’t want to talk about video games but tha AO lady kept pushing and when it was all over he realized he fell for the ploy. All they ended up talking about were video games. Needless to say he did not get into Hotchkiss, his first choice. Somewhat underhanded but as the '11 candidates will see it is like a revolving door with the applicants, sometimes standing room only.

neatoburrito-I think one reason she got that question was that we have family ties to another school that the interviewing school views as their main rival. She was admitted, but chose a different school than either the interviewing school or the rival.
