Unexpected Low SAT Scores Sent to Colleges :(

Hey guys. So have you ever taken the SATs and thought you got a decent score until the actual scores were posted? Maybe it's just me... But I just saw my January scores, and I am speechless as to how bad they are. I've taken the SATs 4 times and this was my second to lowest score I've gotten.
Now I feel like I completely screwed myself over for colleges I applied to because that was my last SAT I'd ever take and I had indicated that I wanted them send immediately to those schools once the scores came out. I didn't think to cancel any score reports because I didn't think I did that bad! :(
I understand that most colleges will look at the highest combination of scores from different dates, but still, is it going to hurt my chances of getting accepted seeing that my scores declined after taking the SAT so many times??

well my friend has a similar case. He used to do well in the practice tests, but he got a horribly low score in the actual test. He was speculating bubbling errors.

But he is trying to explain his situation to the colleges he has applied to. Seeing his essays and all, they would probably believe him… yet, u never know. Anyway he has not givn up hope…

and in ur case…u are quite safe. It will hurt that u have given the SAT so many times…but it is good that they will consider the best scores. Don’t fret too much…everything will turn out ok.

Can you explain how your friend tried to explain to colleges about the situation?-Well mainly what he said?

monomo810, I got my January scores back too and it was my third time that I took the SAT. I did horrible as well.
If you want to share me your score, I can share you mine through private message as well.

Thank you HopefulEagle86. I am just mainly freaking about my situation. To be honest, I think ALL my SAT scores are horrible, but this one was just such a heartbreaker. I am not the BEST student, but I am currently ranked 17th out of a class of 181 and I do challenge myself with many classes in school (I haven’t had a lunch in 3 years).
Quite frankly, I’ve come to realize that I am one of those people who will NEVER be able to do well on the SATs no matter how hard I try.
For the colleges I applied to, I think my SAT scores may be the thing that will “break” me instead of “make” me. :(

Is it really that bad? Lower than 1800-1900?

^I want to know as well

He has a sub score.
But I can’t tell you what he got unless he wants to.

Olzhas, yes it is lower than 1800-1900? :[
I am not one of those on here to worry about getting a 2100 (no offense to anyone, but the day I get a score like that on the SAT is the day hell freezes over).
At this point I am just praying that colleges will look past my bad scores and look at my other strengths in school.

Yeah, the combined scores of all my exams are just under 1700. But regardless, on this recent exam I didn’t get any scores higher than what I’ve had in the past and that is why I am distressed about how those scores have been sent to colleges.

And I’m a girl btw. No offense taken lol.

^^ well he basically sent mails explaining that he doesn’t have more time to give the SATs and that he probably did some bubble up mistakes.
i don’t really know much about it though, i am just tellin u what he told me…

Don’t stress, I got a 1750 and sent my score to USC. You really just have to hope it’s going to work out.

Well, 1700 is still not so horrible score. Do your scores fall into 25-75 percentile of schools you applied to? You can find it out on CB site. And even if they don’t you still have a chance.

Chances are, after taking the test 4 times, your score has plateaued by now. With that said, colleges realize you are more than an SAT score. Depending on what colleges you are looking into, you can definitely make up for sub-par scores with exceptional essays.
