Unexpected SAT results?

well i took the sat on march 10, and i'm anxiously awaiting getting my results. i'm hoping i broke 2100, but i would like to know if anyone had ever gotten a score deviating greatly from what they were expecting? and if it did, was it for better or worse? like for me, getting a 2200 would be very unexpected for me, so has anyone ever experienced this before? or do most people get a score around what they were expecting

Ya on december i expected 2000+ i got 1890. On January SAT i expected 1900. i got 2040.

my first time i expected about a 2100. but i ended up with 2260, which was a pleasant surprise.

i got a 2040 but was expecting much higher, especially in math. I thought for sure I would get a 700+ but only achieved a 650.

I'm expecting a pretty low score this time so I won't be disappointed if they're bad.

I think I should keep thinking that I will get a low score, so that way I won't be disappointed and I can only become happy :)

I'm doing the same, naidu90.

Go pessimism!

Yeah, I thought I was gonna get like a 650 on the CR but got a 700, and I was thinking more along the lines of 2100, but got 2220, so who knows, you might do better than you expected!

I sure hope so. My parents, who aren't exactly financially endowed, are counting on me to get a high SAT score to improve my chance of recieving scholarships.

(scores are out now)

i expected something higher than what i got :/

Scores are out. Ouch.. It's my first time taking it, but ... that hurts. Le sigh There goes my chances at college. :'[

I just checked my scores (at midnight, PDT)
I expected to get 760 in math and fail in critical reading.
Result: 800 in critical reading and 700 in math.
Kinda sad, since I am asian

Wow that's what I had too 'cept 800 in CR and Writing and a 710 in Math. I'm definitely doing a retake

i am super happy. for right now.

i went from 180 psat (10th), 197 psat (11th), to 2040 SAT (11th).

yay. now i just want to get to 2200-2300. i'm going to retake, and retake, until i get it. i got an 8 on my essay.. it was possibly the worst thing i ever wrote. i wrote mainly on the trials and tribulations (cliche...) that the new immigrants faced in the early 1900s/late1880sish.. heh. I read a wikipedia article that said that an MIT professor found a high correlation between length of the paper and scaled score. I'm just going to keep on writing next time. the length of my march SAT paper was like..a page and a snippet of the next.

I'm actually ecouraged by my results. A 2040 for a first try with no prep as a sophomore makes me feel that I have the potential to get a 2400 eventually. I think there was someone on this board who had my score as a baseline before getting a 2400...hmm...must search.

I was expecting 2200ish, pleasant surprise 2370 lol!

i cancelled my score, but i never got the confirmation. so now my scores are gonna be out on the fourth it says.

what do you think 4 wrong in math would be? frickk im so screwed.

I didn't study much my first time taking the SAT. I picked up a study guide around 2 weeks before the test and expected to get around 1650 (it was what I was getting on the practice tests), but I managed 1820. (CR-570, M-620, W-630). I know that's not very good, but I'm aiming to break 2000 next time because I'm not going to wait until 2 weeks before to prepare. :D
