Unfair for AP students in VA

In florida, my friend told me that its possible to take upto 30 AP courses online for free. Yet in Virginia, online AP courses cost $800. This is really unfair. This is one of the reasons I cant afford to take out of school AP courses.

But a lot of people here mention self studing. How exactly do you go about doing that? Just buying the requried materials or Barrons/PR's AP books? PLZ help.

i live in FL and that is indeed true. every AP is offered online, however, many students fail these online AP courses because it's much better to get a professor who can actually lecture.

Depends on which subject. Otherwise it is better to buy a textbook of the sunject and study the topics covered in the class. Or, for some subjects, you can just get a review book and study it for the test.

Many many schools outside of Florida will NOT accept Florida Virtual School classes as being equal to conventional high school...they do not calculate the grades earned into the GPA.

And it's true, the AP pass rate is very low. Most kids just use the classes to boost their class rank.

Actually I hear FLVS has a better AP pass rate than a lot of the schools in my area. But yes, a lot of kids use it to boost their class rank.

I personally know a handful of people at my school who are taking Florida Virtual School Ap courses and are not even planning to take the actual ap exam in may. like wishingandhoping just said, "Most kids just use the classes to boost their class rank."
