<p>If interviews aren't required they can't be held against you if you don't have one. Works out nicely, doesn't it? They can give you a little boost in showing your personality/social skills, but other than that, they usually just reiterate your app.. You can always say if having it helps you, not having it hurts you, because everything is relative, but you won't be actually penalized for not having an interview.</p>
<p>Princeton itself doesnt choose who gets interviews right? (hoping that the fact that i did not get one is not a bad sign) that's the job of the local alumn assoc?</p>

<p>if u dont get an interview, that only means that there is no Princeton alumni in your reasonable vicinity. So they CANT get an interview with you, not that they dont want to. </p>
<p>The Admissions office would most likely cross the addresses of applicants with those of their alumni. They just give a specific alumni a list of applicants in the general area, so yea, it is the alumni's job to get to u. (dont worry, if there is anyone in your area, its pton's strict policy to get u an interview) ;)</p>
<p>Not always. Many princeton applicants in my area didn't get interviews, and I live like 10 min away from the border of LA county, so it's not like there's a dirth of alumni available. Luckily, I had a friend who had an interview, and she gave my info to the alum and he contacted me so I got my interview yesterday! (even though I wasn't "assigned" to him.)</p>
<p>it seems many on the princeton board didn't get an interview up till now. I sent an email asking for a possibility of an interviewer in my area...am waiting for a reply. actually i wouldn't mind traveling to have the interview...:)</p>

<p>i emailed the local alumn assoc. and they said they had my name and had given it to an alumn who was supposed to have contacted me - he never did - hmmmm anyways, they assinged me to someone else but it will not take place until the end of next week, that seems a little late, but o well hope they havent already discarded my app :)</p>
