Hi, I’m looking into the Occupational Therapy program at UNH. I would love any feedback on the program as well as on University of New Hampshire in general. I’m also curious about the student life on campus. I live in Illinois currently, so I’m worried about fitting in at UNH. What are the students like and is it easy to make friends?
Unbelievably friendly campus. My D came from CA and knew no one- was shocked how welcoming, happy and friendly everyone is. Students come from all over to go to UNH- her suite mates are from NJ, VT and MI, so you definitely won’t be the only one from far away. Get involved and you will love it!
Thanks, that’s great to hear! Are the students focused on their academics? One worry I have about UNH is that it isn’t as selective as other colleges I’m looking into, so I want to make sure that the students care about their studies and all that.
My D had the same exact same concern as she is a serious student, but found there are plenty of people like her, especially if you live in either the Honors dorm; or in one of the CERCS which tend to have kids from the College of Engineering and Physical Science (that would be Handler or Haaland), or Engelhardt, (the Alcohol and Drug Free dorm)- she is in Handler and says its the best dorm on campus! But there are also plenty of students focused on academics everywhere. My D fell in love with UNH and turned down BU and other more selective schools for it and couldn’t be happier. Sure there are some kids not into school and just into partying, but you will find that everywhere. You will just need to find your “people” and it will be easy with such a friendly, open campus as UNH.
