Uni of Manchester or UBC?

I got an unconditional offer to study law at Manchester, and am really glad about it cause' its generally quite difficult to get into UK law schools.

However, UBC also sounds pretty attractive to me because of its location and i'm gonna do a Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in political science or economics) there.

So which one should i go ?

UBC of course.

Why do you want to study law in the UK anyway; it’s not particularly difficult getting accepted to read law at average unis like Manc, especially if you’re foreign. Manchester is the biggest ‘party school’ the UK has; the university itself is alright but not worth paying international fees for. The city is my idea of hell but if you like partying, drinking and terrible Indian food then you will like it.

Dionysus58: so what is it about UBC that i should go there?

UBC is a great university with an international reputation in a beautiful city. I can’t think of any reason to go to Manchester over UBC unless you can’t afford UBC or you want to practice law in the UK.

Did you attend UBC? Which course?

And is it more expensive to live in Vancouver than in Manchester?

To be honest this is very circumstantial, tell me about your future plans and I will be able to provide an answer that is more suitable to your future. Uni of Manchester blows UBC out the picture if you decide to work in Europe though - my 2 cents. Lawyers in the UK earn more than lawyers in Canada too, not sure if cost of living evens it out though.

University of Manchester is a reputable law school - although not on par with Oxbridge, it is in the top 15.

General academic rigor and knowing the type of friends who go into each of those schools: Manchester> UBC. Again, this is only one factor.
